Downtown Farmers Market in Pioneer Park

Utah's Largest Farmers Market

By Lyndsey Kocher, About.com

From mid-June to mid-October, the largest Farmers Market in Utah is held every Saturday at Pioneer Park. Local vendors, small farmers and artisans display their wares amid a vibrant, busy community that thrives on live music, cooking presentations and other community activities.

Pioneer Park

Where: 300 South 300 West
When: 8:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.

Pioneer Park has been renovated to preserve it's historical legacy in downtown Salt Lake City, which has been threatened in recent years. The 10 acre park is surrounded by resource centers for the homeless such as the Salvation Army and the Fourth Street Clinic. As a result, the homeless congregate in the park to eat and sleep and brought with them the social problems of drugs, violence and vagrancy. Salt Lake residents soon learned to steer clear of the area.

The Downtown Farmers Market was proposed by the Downtown Alliance to create a social atmosphere that would invite a more positive perspective on Pioneer Park.

Over 70 local farmers will be selling their products including honeys, cheeses, breads and heirloom vegetables. The Art and Craft Market will be held in the center plaza adjacent to the Farmers market.
